Walima Dresses
139 styles
Walima dresses in champagne, silver and soft pastels, for the last and most relaxed day of the wedding.
A softer look for the Walima
The Walima, also spelled Valima, is the reception hosted by the groom's family after the wedding. After the deep reds of the Barat, it is usually the moment for a lighter look: pale colours, delicate embroidery and a shape that lets you move and greet guests comfortably through a long evening.
Colours that work
Champagne, silver, blush, peach, lilac, ice blue and mint are the colours to look at. Metallic thread and pearl work catch the light beautifully under evening lighting, so a pale dress never looks plain. If your groom wears a sherwani or suit in a set colour, choose a shade that sits well beside it.
Lehenga, gharara or saree
A lehenga with a long shirt is the most popular choice. A gharara feels more traditional, and a saree or gown gives a modern, streamlined shape. If you plan to spend the evening on your feet, check the weight of the skirt: tissue and organza are much lighter than heavily worked velvet.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Barat and Walima dresses?
Barat dresses are usually heavier and in deep reds or maroons. Walima dresses tend to be lighter, in pastels or metallic shades, with finer embroidery.
What colour is best for a Walima?
Champagne, silver, blush, peach, lilac and ice blue are the most popular, but any soft colour works. Many brides choose a shade that complements the groom's outfit.
Is Walima the same as Valima?
Yes. They are two spellings of the same event: the reception held by the groom's family after the wedding.
What should the bride's family wear to a Walima?
A formal suit, gharara or light lehenga in a jewel tone or pastel works well. See our formal wear collection for pieces that do not compete with the bride.
How long does a Walima dress take to arrive?
Stitched dresses take 7 to 10 days within Pakistan and 3 to 4 weeks worldwide. Unstitched fabric takes 3 to 5 days in Pakistan and about 2 weeks worldwide.
