Choosing a Pakistani lehenga

A lehenga is a long, flared skirt worn with a short or long shirt and a dupatta. Pakistani designers tend to pair it with a longer choli or a flowing peshwas, which gives more coverage and a softer shape than a cropped blouse. That is why the same outfit can work for a bride, a sister of the bride or a guest, depending on how heavily it is worked.

Which style suits the event

Heavy zardozi, dabka and kora work belongs at the Barat, usually in reds, maroons and deep pinks. Lighter tissue and organza lehengas in pastels suit a Walima, while white, ivory and gold look right at a Nikah. Bright, playful colours with gota are made for the Mehndi. If you are a guest, choose lighter embroidery and leave bright red to the bride.

Designers to look at

This collection includes Sania Maskatiya, Ali Xeeshan, Sadaf Fawad Khan, Mysie by Tahira, Mina Kashif and Zarif, among others. Looking for something made for the wedding day itself? See our bridal dresses.

Fit and timing

Choose a standard size or send your own measurements on the product page. Stitched lehengas take 7 to 10 days within Pakistan and 3 to 4 weeks worldwide, so leave extra time before your first event for any fittings with your own tailor.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a lehenga and a gharara?

A lehenga is a skirt that flares from the waist. A gharara is a divided garment, fitted to the knee and then flaring out in pleats. Both are worn with a shirt and a dupatta.

Can a wedding guest wear a lehenga?

Yes. Choose lighter embroidery in a jewel tone or a pastel, and avoid bright bridal red. Tissue, organza and net lehengas look dressy without competing with the bride.

Can my lehenga be stitched to my measurements?

Yes. Add your measurements on the product page, or message us on WhatsApp and we will check them with you. Many lehengas can also be ordered unstitched if you prefer your own tailor.

How long does a lehenga take to arrive?

Stitched lehengas take 7 to 10 days within Pakistan and 3 to 4 weeks worldwide. Unstitched fabric takes 3 to 5 days in Pakistan and about 2 weeks worldwide.

Can I return a lehenga stitched to my measurements?

Custom-stitched pieces cannot be returned, so please check your measurements carefully. Our returns page has the full details for other orders.
